Can I convert my own videos?

Yes. Choose the "Convert a Video" link from the menu above, upload your video to our server, then download the converted file.

Why would I want to convert a video?

Converting a video to mobile format means that you can take it with you. You can watch it when you want or show it to other people. For example, if you have a video clip you've shot with a camcorder, you can choose your favorite part and convert it to run on your cell phone, iPod, PDA or other media player

Do I need to know what file formats my device uses?

No, you simply choose your device from a list. We know how to encode video for every device that is listed.

Are there any content restrictions?

No, you can convert whatever you want.

What limitations are there?

We only accept videos in .mpg, .avi, .wmv and .flv format. If you clip is not in this format you will have to use other tools to convert it into one of these formats first. Generally, any video editing program can output in these formats.

How long does conversion take?

You will find that the limiting factor is your upload speed as conversion on the site is usually very quick.

What output file formats are supported?

We can output to .wmv, .3gp, .3g2 and .mp4 (using MPEG-4).

What WMV limitations are there?

Converting from WMV to WMV (e.g. resizing a clip) is not supported, though it may work in many instances.

Can I convert videos from YouTube, MySpace and other similar sites?

YouTube and MySpace videos are streamed to your PC and are not normally stored permanently. If you want to convert them you will have to save the Flash Video (.flv) file that is generated by these sites and then upload it to us for conversion. Saving the .flv is easily achieved using sites like KeepVid.
