Clippz.com is based on the Clippz Software Suite which has been developed over the past two and a half years.

The applications in the Software Suite allow us to deliver high quality mobile video and advertising to cellphones, PDA's and portable media players without using a mobile network.

The Software Suite uses patent-applied-for technology to deliver the highest level of video quality to the widest range of devices, without requiring any software installation on the device.

The Software Suite has three fundamental components:

1. Cascade

Cascade is our flexible mobile video encoder and content management system. It takes a single input video and produces multiple outputs based on a predefined set of over 30 profiles. Each output is compatible with a group of devices and is chosen to give optimum performance for those devices. The application is integrated with an MS SQL database and can be used to power high traffic websites.

Cascade produces MPEG-4, H.263, H.264 and WMV outputs that are compatible with over 1 billion cellphones around the world, most of which are not even on 3G networks. Millions of other devices, including the iPod, iPhone, Zune, and PDAs are also supported.

One of the biggest advantages of the Clippz solution is that the quality of the video can be tailored to each device. Our philosophy has been to acquire, test and categorize. Cascade holds profiles of audio, video, storage and file transfer capabilities of all devices supported based on our own benchmark tests. We ensure that video quality matches the device's capabilities rather than adopting a one size fits all approach where the lowest common denominator is a huge limiting factor.

On this website, 12 different profiles are in use. This means that for every video clip title, there are 12 different files that could be chosen, but the logic in the solution ensures that you always get the best video file for your device.

2. Ad Manager

The Clippz Ad Manager is a mobile video encoder and content management system specifically designed for managing pre-and post roll advertising. Given that every clip can be in multiple formats the Ad Manager has to be extremely flexible to prepare and target advertisements for dynamic insertion.

The Ad Manager is also an MS SQL-based tool and allows for highly targeted video advertising. The targeting factors include:

  • By Device Type
  • By Content Category
  • By Demographic
  • By Keyword

Ad Manager has full on and off-line reporting capability so that you can easily analyse the geodemographic of your customer base along with full analyics of the content on your site.

3. Server Tools

We have a number of software applications that perform specific functions on live webservers. These include applications to join pre-and post roll advertising to each clip in real time, and dynamically encode video into multiple formats, if required.
